Our Purpose

Kargo International Ltd has core competencies in the provision of logistics in the supply chain; services which are commonly referred to as ‘Clearing and Forwarding’.

Our key purpose is to provide convenient freight services, reliable and efficient forwarding to our clients. We aim to top the freight and forwarding industry in terms of excellence in delivery. The company also caters for the freight needs of all Southern African clients in import and export of cargo throughout Uganda and all major ports.

Our Managing Director

Mr Charles Kareba has over 40 years experience in the clearing and forwarding industry. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Freight Professionals. He is also a member of British International Forwarders Association. Charles worked in Mombasa port for over 15 years before he went to Dar-Es-Salaam for another 5 years. The rest of the years he worked in Uganda still in the same industry.

Presently Charles is the Chairman of Uganda Shippers Council, Chairman Board of Trustees FEAFFA Board Member Central Corridor which keeps him in constant touch with the customs Management. This has the strategic advantage that Kargo is timely informed, and sometimes even involved in the decision making and implementation of changes affecting importers/exporters. This information is disseminated to our clients immediately.

Our Achievements

Over the years KIL has made great strides which have drawn national and regional recognition.

Some of these include:

  • Rated 6th in the 100 Top Mid¬sized companies in Uganda
  • Awarded Top 100 Companies Trophy
  • Kargo has representation on major institutional boards within the industry. These include the Uganda Freight Forwarders Association (UFFA), Uganda Shipper’s Council (USC) and Federation of East African Freight Forwarders Association (FEAFFA)
  • Kargo team members have been selected to facilitate in Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Refresher training courses
  • We have worked with the best corporate companies in Uganda
  • Staff has grown from 3 to 18 over the years
  • KIL’s Managing Director has presented a couple of papers about the industry in the international forums. Represented Uganda in E.A.C, COMESA, and WTO.

Authorised Economic Operator

Kargo International is certified as an Authorised Economic Operator for the 3 year period 2017-2020. An AEO is a business entity or government department that is involved in international trade and is duly authorized by the Commissioner of Customs to transact business with Customs under special arrangements.

The Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) is a trade facilitation initiative derived from the World   Customs Organization (WCO) framework of standards known as the SAFE.

The “SAFE” stands for Security and Facilitation in a global Environment. It is a World Customs Organization (WCO) standard frame work that was developed by WCO member countries represented by their heads of Revenue Administrations at its headquarters in Brussels in 2005.
